If you’ve been to an Aveda store or salon before, chances are that you’ve had one of their complementary cups of hot tea – one with a surprisingly sweet aftertaste. The soothing blend is also available for purchase and receives top customer ratings.
A few months ago, I asked to see the store’s container of the tea. The lady brought out a huge canister, and we read the ingredients together. The top ingredients are licorice root and peppermint. If you enjoy herbal tea, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
Here is the recipe:
- 1 1/4 c. Licorice Root
- 1 c. Peppermint
- 1/8 c. Fennel
- 1/8 c. Sweet Basil
Licorice is commonly used for digestive issues, sore throat, and inflammation. It is used in foods, beverages, and even as an added flavor in tobacco. However, it is known to cause water retention. Please do not consume licorice on a daily basis for more than four weeks at a time. Pregnant women and people with high blood pressure or heart disease should avoid licorice root.
While many herbs have health benefits and are used as medicine, keep in mind that too much of almost anything can be harmful. Click here to learn more about licorice root.
